Dear Residents of Galax:

It's hard to believe that Galax will mark its 100th birthday in 2006. As this milestone approaches, the Galax Centennial Steering Team would like to make the occasion one to remember through celebratory events and commemorative activities.

To reach our goals, we invite businesses, industry, civic groups, cultural and religious organizations to participate in the Centennial Celebration. The entire community is encouraged to support this event, thus fostering pride in our City and enhancing awareness of our history and heritage as we commemorate Galax's 100th birthday.

The Centennial Steering Team has begun to plan legacy events for the 2006 Celebration. Proposed legacy events include a kick-off celebration, a sculpture with significant commemoration, and a production portraying historical events and people.

During the twelve months following the kick-off event, community organizations are asked to co-brand normally held annual events as part of the Centennial Celebration.

Events and organizations receiving sanction status will be given authorization to use the offical City of Galax Centennial logo and theme.

On our website you will find resources that demonstrate numerous ways to be involved. Please take a moment to consider the lasting value of the Centennial Celebration and how it can strengthen our community.
