Twin County United Way’s mission is to increase the organized capacity of people to care for one another right here at home.
Last year the Twin County United Way Partner Agencies and Community Service Programs provided many services in the Twin Counties.
About Twin County United Way
Twin County United Way is a voluntary, non-profit organization that has been helping the people in Carroll and Grayson counties and the City of Galax since its founding in 1957.
We bring together community volunteers and agencies to provide health and human services to the people of the Twin Counties. United Way raises funds and invests them in 30 local health and human service agencies and programs dedicated to helping those who help others. Twin County United Way also provides much-needed services to the community through the coordination of emergency food and shelter monies and other projects such as the organization of food drives and safety programs.
Mission
To increase the organized capacity of people to care for one another right here at home.
Service Area
Twin County United Way serves the city of Galax and the counties of Carroll and Grayson.
A Community Aid
Twin County United Way raises money in the Twin County Region to fund a wide variety of community programs - including fire departments and rescue squads, medical clinic, emergency food, clothing and shelters-through 30 local non-profit agencies and community service programs.
Community Involvement
Twin County United Way is managed by a board of volunteers drawn from a cross section of people from the area served. Volunteers govern the financial and policy decisions of the organization, study community needs, and work to raise and distribute campaign funds. Many area volunteers help run campaigns at individual businesses.
Community Agencies
Twin County United Way combines the efforts of 30 non-profit agencies and community service programs. Those agencies are able to provide local people from all walks of life with much needed services because of the generosity of people like you. Services include health care and rehabilitation, affordable housing for low-income families, fire prevention and rescue, education, emergency services, crime prevention, and others.
